Premier Doug Ford has announced that he will meet with the Lieutenant-Governor on Tuesday to trigger an election campaign, with an election day set for February 27.
At a time when democracy faces challenges around the world, teaching students about the value of elections and active citizenship has never been more important. Civic education can help equip young people with the knowledge and skills they need to protect and strengthen our democracy for generations to come.
CIVIX is once again partnering with Elections Ontario to provide the Student Vote program to schools across the province – completely free of charge.

Participating schools will receive engaging learning resources, including lesson plans, slide decks, videos, and other tools, all designed to help you bring the election to life for your students. Digital resources will be available online later this week, and a physical package of materials will follow later.
Please take a moment to consult with your colleagues to decide which classes at your school will take part in the program and confirm who will serve as the primary contact (Team Leader). If you’re no longer teaching a relevant subject, we’d greatly appreciate it if you could pass this message along to a colleague.
Elections are more than a process – they are a cornerstone of democracy, shaping the world we live in. This is a unique opportunity to empower your students with the tools to understand and participate in this process while sparking meaningful conversations at home and in their communities.
